VIDEO: Guest Seminar on Time resolved scattering for Drug Delivery
Speaker: Ben Boyd, Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Monash University
Abstract: Scattering as an enabling technique is gaining momentum. The technique is especially well suited to out-of-equilibrium lipid systems of interest for drug delivery. With synchrotron sources the format is only limited by your imagination!
Biography: Professor Ben Boyd is a colloid and physical chemist specializing in lipid self-assembly and pharmaceutical delivery systems. Based at Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, he leads research on controlling materials at the colloidal scale for drug delivery and develops synchrotron X-ray characterization techniques.
With over 250 publications and 12,000 citations, Professor Boyd is an elected Fellow and current President of the Controlled Release Society. His honors include the AAPS 2011 Outstanding Research Award for Lipid-based Drug Delivery, a Novo Nordisk Laureate Research Fellowship (2021), and most recently, a $3 million ARC Industry Laureate Fellowship with Fonterra Australia and the Australian Synchrotron to advance precision nutrition research.
