SasView is an open source, collaboratively developed software for analysis and modeling of small angle scattering (SAS) data. The core functionality of SasView includes fitting of model functions, pair-distance distribution function inversion, model-independent analysis and correlation function calculations. SasView provides a large collection of form and structure factors and allows for easy incorporation of user-defined models. SasView also supports calculations on Graphical Processing Units (GPUs), which allows for faster evaluation of complex model functions. During this seminar I will present latest SasView developments and discuss how to contribute to its further enhancement.

Abstract

SasView is an open source, collaboratively developed software for analysis and modeling of small angle scattering (SAS) data. The core functionality of SasView includes fitting of model functions, pair-distance distribution function inversion, model-independent analysis and correlation function calculations. SasView provides a large collection of form and structure factors and allows for easy incorporation of user-defined models. SasView also supports calculations on Graphical Processing Units (GPUs), which allows for faster evaluation of complex model functions.

In the last few years efforts have been made to develop a new version of SasView (version 5.x) with fully rewritten graphical user interface (GUI), new command line interface (CLI) and extended model library. New CLI allows running SasView from the script, which enables processing multiple data sets efficiently and opens possibilities for live analysis of the experimental data.

Form and structure factors functions can be easily contributed to SasView through the online marketplace, which expands the repertoire of available models. The marketplace is designed to contain primarily user contributed models.

During this seminar I will present latest SasView developments and discuss how to contribute to its further enhancement.

Biography

Wojciech is a scientific software developer at Data Management and Software Centre of European Spallation Source ERIC in Copenhagen and researcher at Biochemistry and Structural Biology Department at Lund University. Wojciech is an active developer of SasView – a software tool for analyzing Small Angle Scattering Data. His scientific project at Lund University involves investigation of self-assembling viruses using SAXS and SANS. Wojciech is also involved in teaching SasView and python.
