Kick-off Symposium, New Materials for Energy and Sustainability

This event launches the activity programme for LINXS’ new theme.  Within the theme, we aim to push forward the development and characterization of new materials with potential future applications in the fields of energy and sustainability, at the initial research stage.  The theme has five working groups, which will each be briefly introduced at the start of the symposium.  The subject of working group 5 obviously underpins the work of the other four working groups.

The theme introduction will be followed by three plenary talks:
- Dr. Christy Kinane, ISIS Neutron and Muon Source, UK - Title: Neutron Reflectometry: what it can tell you and some enlightening cases studies in New Materials
- Prof. Martin M. Nielsson, Technical University of Denmark - Title: Tracking structural and vibrational dynamics in charge transfer processes
- Prof. Per-Anders Carlsson, Competence Centre for Catalysis, Chalmers  University of Technology, Sweden - Title: Catalysis for a greener future

All registered participants will receive a Zoom link for these talks closer to the date of the symposium. This part of the meeting will only be held online.

In the afternoon, the working groups will have individual discussion groups, to debate the proposed direction for activities.  For working groups 1 – 4, the discussion sessions will take place between 14.00-15.00, in parallel.  When registering, please indicate which of these four discussions you would like to attend.  Working group 5 will then hold a discussion session, which all participants will be able to attend if they want to.

The discussion groups will be held both digitally and with the possibility of in-person attendance at the LINXS facilities, where there are fully equipped meeting rooms permitting this. There is, of course, a limit on the number of in-person participants permitted, so if you wish to participate in person, please register early. Priority will be given to WG members.
