Welcome to the FAIRMD2026 Workshop!
Our focus will be on further developing the FAIRMD Lipids and FAIRMD IDPs Databanks, and using the FAIRMD Lipids Databank to develop Machine Learning models for SAXS. Most time will be devoted on working together to progress toward these goals, yet a few talks and discussion sessions will also be organised.

Target group: Researchers interested in open collaboration for high-fidelity molecular modelling of disordered biomolecular systems. The event is open to all interested researchers.
About
This four-day workshop is part of EU/OSCARS-funded project FAIRMD — Disorder to Order: Streamlining Biomolecule Simulation Re-Use via FAIR NMRlipids Database, which builds on The NMRlipids Project to develop open, FAIR-compliant databanks for machine learning and automatic quality evaluation of all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of lipid bilayers and intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs).
The NMRlipids Project is an open collaboration running since 2013, aimed at identifying the most realistic MD simulation models for biomolecules. Originally focused on lipid bilayers, it has been extended to proteins — particularly IDPs — within the FAIRMD Project. The first version of the FAIRMD Lipids Databank was published in 2024; the article describing it demonstrated in particular the machine learning applications that programmatic access to vast amount of quality-evaluated simulation data enables. Updated versions of both the Lipids and IDPs Databanks are currently under active development within the OSCARS-funded project.
Unlike a traditional conference, the FAIRMD2026 workshop will deliberately focus on doing rather than presenting: Participants will work hands-on to solve concrete outstanding problems in the Databanks, with the primary goals being the finalization of both the FAIRMD IDPs Databank and the updated FAIRMD Lipids Databank. This format has proven effective in previous NMRlipids workshops held in Berlin (2019), Prague (2021), and Bergen (2025).
