About

MAX IV and LINXS welcome you to a two-day hackathon on 12-13 October 2026 with lectures and hands-on training on PtyPy, the open-source software package for Ptychography. The hackathon will be held at LINXS, Lund, Sweden.

In the field of X-ray imaging, ptychography has enabled high resolution, quantitative imaging, surpassing the restrictions set by lens-based optics. Modern ptychography combines a scanning microscopy set up with a 2D detector to record the full diffraction pattern. Overlapping illuminations then provide the boundary conditions for computational reconstruction of both amplitude and phase of the real space image. PtyPy is the leading software for Ptychography data treatment and is developed and updated by experts across the world.

The hackathon aims to:

  • Teach the basics of ptychographic reconstruction, covering different methods and algorithms.

  • Provide hands-on training on how to use existing workflows in PtyPy for your high-performance ptychographic reconstructions

  • Introduce the PtyPy framework and how to get started with your own workflows.

  • Share recent developments in PtyPy and discuss future challenges and plans.
