The move to The Loop in March 2025 has had a strong impact on LINXS’ mission as an advanced studies institute according to LINXS Director Trevor Forsyth.

LINXS has now been at The Loop for just over a year. The move to our new premises in March 2025 has had a strong impact on LINXS’ mission as an advanced studies institute, developing science frameworks that maximise the opportunities of large-scale research facilities such as MAX IV and ESS and other major centres worldwide.

Since moving to Science Village, LINXS’s premises have been fully booked for everything from large meetings and conferences for our different themes to data analysis workshops, young researchers’ activities, and guest lectures. Throughout the year, LINXS has also hosted numerous guest researchers and provided a superb environment for informal interactions between scientists from different disciplines.

Director Trevor Forsyth reflects on the past 12-month period as one where LINXS has had increasing impact for the development of large-scale facility science and national and international collaboration. LINXS has further had strong local impact with increasing involvement of university faculties and departments where he notes that there is obvious synergy with facility capabilities and needs - and obvious opportunities afforded by the proximity of Science Village.

"LINXS is charting a course that will not only facilitate scientific and industrial opportunities in the region and nationally; it is also developing strong international connectivity and empowering educational opportunity for students and next generation researchers. Whether for energy, health, technology or culture, there has never been a more important time to nurture collaboration and complementarity," says Trevor Forsyth, LINXS Director.
